Asheville is in North Carolina, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Asheville follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

This is a great place to come for a nice stroll and to enjoy beautiful flowers and scenery. The botanical gardens is small but lovely. It is free. It is a great place for kids to walk around and stretch their legs. It was nicely shaded and had nice areas to sit and rest. We packed a lunch and enjoyed it under the shade of the trees. They have a cute little gift shop with clean bathrooms. They have a little creek you can explore too! Tip: If you’re coming with your babies, please keep in mind that it has gravel pathways so it is not stroller friendly, it’s easiest to strap them in to a harness.

The Botanical Gardens at Asheville are an absolute hidden gem! I spent the afternoon wandering the quiet trails, and the variety of native plants and trees is incredible. Seeing the mature trilliums, flame azaleas, and towering old-growth trees up close felt like stepping into a prehistoric forest. Every turn brings a new species to look at, all perfectly labeled. It is easily the most peaceful place in town to clear your head and truly connect with North Carolina's mountain nature.

Great quiet short hiking place close to downtown Asheville. It’s free and a lot of volunteers work there. If you’re expecting something overly spectacular this is not for you. I encourage you to visit and drop a donation while there. It’s worth the trip for the variety of plants, creeks and friendly staff. You can do the entire thing in less than 1 1/2 hours.

What a great place to see birds, plants and just nature in general. I really love the botanical gardens. They have a great half mile loop trail. It takes you into the woods. Incredibly well marked and easy to walk. So peaceful. I like the identification of all the plants throughout gardens. The gift shop is very quaint lots of choices, lots of books. They have a birdfeeder that had quite the variety of local songbirds. Besides when I cardinals, blue jays, carolina chickadees and titmice, I also saw a very pretty white breasted nut hatch. They keep the feeders well stop and there’s always a murderer two flicking on it.

We were looking for something to do in Asheville while on a long road trip, and stumbled upon the Asheville Botanical Gardens. First, who can beat free? The gardens are very nice and pretty. It's a calm and peaceful setting. You could easily spend several hours here. We really loved how so many plants and flowers were labeled. Highly recommend.
